The area around the lake can be very muddy when wet.

The lake is located in Carrizo Plain National Monument and is administered by the Bureau of Land Management.
Description
Take the short path to the boardwalk along the edge of Soda Lake. In wet seasons (mostly winter), the water may be near the boardwalk. During the summer, the water will have evaporated.
Birds and other wildlife are often spotted near the lake.
