Description
Start at the end of Regal Oak Ct, where there's plenty of street-parking. But be careful to not block the residents from entering and leaving their driveway.
The first part up to the Angel Vista Viewpoint is the hardest. We did the viewpoint coming back as the sun was too low and blocked part of our view.
Then you move eastwards. You'll be greeted with signs that you're about to pass through private property. Please respect that and stay on trail. Moving on you'll pass through the Hope Nature Preserve, eventually arriving at the Los Robles Open Space.
You can do the loop in either way, however given the scrambling (0.5 miles) in the beginning of the loop we recommend taking the loop counter-clockwise. Easier to go uphill there.
About 3/4 into the loop you run through a lush green forest. Pause there and breathe. Enjoy all the smells, especially after the rain season.
Going back is rather easy, the incline back to Angel Vista Viewpoint is modest. Not too steep to get exhausted, not too flat to become boring.
We did this run in the early morning around the end of December. Bring something to cover your arms/hands, but still easily removable as it can get cool here in the winter.
