This is the first section of the 75-mile SRKG loop. It starts in the town of Newbury and travels up Lakeview Avenue. Here, it connects with the Newbury Trail and travels up to the northern edge of Lake Solitude. It ties into the M-S Greenway to the summit of Mount Sunapee. It travels past the summit, then begins its descent. As you near the resort, the trail reaches a junction where summit trail turns right and the SRK G continues straight. It follows along the Province Trail, which parallels the Purple Trail. *The purple trail is not the SRK G. Section 1 ends at the parking area on Province Road.
