Overview

If you like bird watching, wildlife viewing and are looking to get out for a couple of hours, Potter Marsh is a great place to visit. The freshwater marsh attracts around 130 species of migratory and nesting birds every year. In addition to birds, you're also likely to see moose, beavers, muskrats, and spawning salmon. The boardwalk is maintained, level and easy for anyone to access and enjoy.

Description

While this run is mapped out in a particular way, there is no wrong way to explore this boardwalk trail system. If you follow as mapped you'll head out and traverse along the highway. There are many places to stop along the boardwalk and enjoy the sights, wildlife, birds and unique setting. When you head back, continue past the parking lot to and out to the spur trail. This boardwalk takes you out further into the marsh and a couple of great overlooks.

Flora & Fauna

Late April through September: Canada geese, northern pintails, canvasback ducks, red-necked phalaropes, horned and red-necked grebes, northern harriers, and eagles.

May to August,: Gulls, Arctic terns, and shorebirds such as yellowlegs. Occasionally trumpeter swans show up during spring and fall migration.

Muskrats, moose, salmon
