Need to Know
Lots of private property every where! Please be courteous and read the signs and stay on the marked trails.
Description
Trail connects to other local trails in the area, but if you keep to the trail that goes up to Burdoin Mountain - the overlook is worth the small switchbacks. Once at the top there is a launching area for paragliders so be on the lookout to watch them take off which is amazing. There's a small bench at the top to sit and enjoy the view when you get to the top.
Parking around the trailhead is very very limited and please be courteous of the private property near by, but there are pull offs just down the road to park your vehicle. Once parked, head towards the trailhead and there will be signs indicating private property on both sides of the trail so stay on the trail and head to the gate. At the gate you'll find more information about accessing the area so please read the sign before heading in and lock the gate behind you.
On the other side start following the trail to the right and head up the hill. There are a few switchbacks here but then starts to level out. Also be on the lookout for mountain bikers coming down the trail too and step aside when they pass you. You'll get endless views of Mt. Hood to your left and views of the Columbia River, White Salmon and Hood River in front.
Work your way around the mountain and through cool oak groves to the opening and find the bench to take in the view. You can keep heading north to connect to the other trails or turn around here and head back to the road.
