Dogs Leashed
Need to Know
Parking is available next to the Briar Chapel dog park on Great Ridge Parkway.
Description
This trail begins across from the Briar Chapel dog park on Great Ridge Parkway. The first section of this trail is exposed under power lines, crossing a small stream, and following a rutted, singletrack mountain bike trail. Once this trail reaches the woods, the views become much better and calming. The trail winds through mixed hardwoods and pines and crosses a stream several times. Several uniquely shaped trees are accessible off the side of this path for exploration.
Eventually, the trail winds back to the power lines for a short period before entering the woods again. At this point, there are several rocky sections that require careful footing. The trail ends at the intersection of Briar Chapel Parkway and Wildwind Dr.
Flora & Fauna
Squirrels, birds, and rabbits are often seen on this path. Occasionally there is a deer to be seen. The power lines attract flocks of turkey vultures and hawks. The trail runs through grassy fields as well as mixed hardwoods and pines.
