Parking is $5
Need to Know
The parking lot is just down the street from the trailhead. It will fit about 15 cars, and then people were parking along the road. You are supposed to go to a day use area of Cimarron State Park and pay the $5 parking fee.
Description
This trail starts out as a meander in the woods, and then begins its climb. The trail becomes somewhat littered with rocks and tree roots, just to the point where you need to pay attention. It follows the creek upward, crossing it several times. No need to get wet unless you want to, the crossings are bridged. Almost a mile in there is a small pool. Many people stop here because the next section of the trail is trickier. You ascend up a steep dirt bank, and onto a narrow rocky ledge. Once past that, the trail seems to go back to an easier singletrack.
Flora & Fauna
Lots of butterflies along the way, and not too many bugs.
