Overview
The Emerald Mountain Epic, formerly known as the Steamboat Stinger, provides a challenging backcountry race experience showcasing some of Steamboat Springs' finest singletrack. The race benefits two local nonprofits: Partners in Routt County and Routt County Riders. Emerald Mountain Epic's mission is to host Steamboat's premier singletrack race experience. We are a charity event that challenges racers to compete at their personal best while promoting safety, fun, camaraderie and community.
Description
You can expect singletrack….lots of it. Beginning at the Howelsen Hill Ski Area in the heart of Steamboat Springs, the course takes an extended tour deep into the beautiful backcountry of Routt County before returning to the transition/finish area. Racers wind through open meadows, aspen forests and wild sage gardens offering incredible views of the surrounding peaks and valleys. It is a 50+ mile race composed of two 26.2 mile loops, 100% on dirt and 90% on singletrack.
