The Carriage Road which leads to the parking lot for this trail is open daily 9am-6pm. The 6pm gate closure is very strict. Also the Carriage Road closes November 15th for the winter. If the road is closed you can run up the road (or other trails in the area) to access this trail.

Description

Park at the lot at the top of the Carriage Road. The gate hours are very strict please pay attention to the signs. Starting from just a bit off the parking lot you have basically a three way fork to get up Belknap Mountain. Red, Blue and Green trails are all very similar with slightly varying lengths.

This trail, the Blue trail, is marked with Blue blazes. It is generally well-maintained and well-marked. You'll start with about a quarter mile of mostly flat terrain. After that quarter mile you'll start to gain elevation with the steepest section of this trail early on and then averaging out to a more moderate climb as you continue. There are several short sections with man made rock steps.

About half way along the trail you'll reach a fork with the Belknap Range Trail and a couple other trails in the area. Follow the signs to continue on the blue trail to the summit of Belknap Mountain. If you want views at the summit you'll have to climb the fire tower.
