This trail starts by heading west, just under the valley's northern ridge. At about the 0.5 mile mark, the trail turns left descending to the valleys floor. One at the bottom, the trail turns right following a small seasonal stream into a wide open grassy field. At the 1.2 mile mark the turns again crossing over the stream. Just after that it passes a small group of old cattle pens before turning into the Black Ranch Loop trail.
