Though documented as a trail, this is more accurately described as a paved sidepath along the east side of SH 97.

The route begins at the KATY Trail at Wilson Ave. The sidepath surface is uneven and inconsistent to the river. Just north of the river is a junction with the River City Trail. The path on the bridge is well protected from vehicle traffic.

After crossing over the railroad and Avery Drive on the north bank of the river, the trail climbs steeply to run along S. Linwood Drive to 34th Street, where it returns to the east side of SH 97 to end at 41st.
