NOTE: Not to be confused with the Bear Run Nature Trail some miles west.

The trail starts across Landrus Road from a small parking area, which is notable for a plaque dedicated to the former Village of Landrus. (A connecting path north of the road leads to MST - Section 18.) The first 50 feet or so of the trail is wide enough for a car, and this width continues on a small spur to the right (west), where there is a small clearing with a fire pit.

After the spur, the trail is singletrack and sparsely marked with very faded red blazes.Terrain is generally fairly rocky. The trail runs uphill in the Bear Run valley, passing a couple of waterfalls. Just under 1 mile from the road, the trail actually crosses Bear Run twice, which might cut your run short depending on how much rain the area has received recently. Eventually, the trail separates from Bear Run and continues through woods, and becomes less steep. The trail terminates on the top of Hickory Ridge, where the Long Run Railroad Trail meets Bloss Mountain Road.
