Description
This trail doesn't get a ton of use and can be overgrown in sections. In fact the northern end can be difficult to spot at the beginning of the
Summit Trail switchbacks: look for a small clearing with the trail heading up the hill to one's right (SW). The first quarter mile from
Summit Trail has some very nice viewpoints of Table Rock and the Cascades to the east.
A few small spurs lead to good rocky outcroppings. After this the trail will drop very steeply off Table Rock's ridge line. There aren't official switchbacks to help. The trail turns towards the west to go around the unnamed summit to the south and continues descending. You'll pass through some very overgrown areas before the trail begins ascending towards Rooster Rock. This is another steep section that is slightly rutted out.
When you finally level out keep an eye out for the
Chicken Rock Spur on the right/NW. This leads to a rock that is summit-able and makes a great spot to rest with nice views. Rooster Rock will be to the east and lacks a non-technical route up. The trail ends at High Ridge Trail which is frequently used by equestrians.
