Description
This trail has been recently re-located, so it may not match up with older maps. The trail starts from the parking area off Crocker Pond Road (NF RD 18) and follows yellow blazes through a mostly deciduous forest. It skirts around a beaver pond, along the top of the dam, then re-enters the woods.
It turns southward and begins its ascent up the mountain. It climbs over some switchbacks as it nears the summit. At the sign, stay left towards the summit. It passes by a small view spur (on the right) to an excellent view. Here, the ground glistens with flecks of mica and quartz.
As you come out into the open, into the scrubby pines, look for the small yellow arrow on a large boulder. The trail turns right, here, and ascends the ridge to the summit of Albany Mountain. Though some of the older maps have the trail ending here (at the summit), it continues on another three tenths of a mile to an amazing view.
