Need to Know
Like most of the trails in Denton Hill State Park, this is blazed sparsely with blue blazes, but is well-tread enough to follow easily.
Description
Start at the near (east) end of the parking lot. Follow an obvious trail between the lodge (on the right) and a cabin (on the left). At the bottom of the ski lift, head down and to the left, following truck tracks. The trail parallels Elm Hollow, a creekbed that may be dry depending on recent rainfall, and climbs gradually.
About 1.5 miles in, the
Elm Hollow Spur Trail joins from the right, with an "8" sign nailed to a tree marking this. Climb higher, and the trail makes a sharp left turn, then peaks and starts a gentle downhill grade. About a mile later, the trail makes another left turn, further downhill; this is at a spot where the obvious path would otherwise make a gentle loop to the left.
This then returns you to the original leg of the trail at about the 1-mile mark.
