Description
The North Woods Unit consists of land bounded by Lake Yahola, Flat Rock Creek, Bird Creek and the golf course. This trail is the access point for the area.
The trail starts at the northwest corner of the Mohawk Park golf course, where Mohawk Boulevard makes a sharp turn from eastbound to southbound. The trail entrance gate is about 200 feet from the boulevard.
The first portion runs about a third of a mile on the top of a dike. This section can be a bit muddy after rains. Note the connection to the
Sierra Club Trail on the north side.
The trail enters a mowed field adjacent to Lake Yahola and immediately turns north down a set of steep stairs. The trail is narrower and uneven as it goes between Mallard Lake and Nelson's Oxbow before ending near an open right-of-way and the entrance to the
North Woods Loop Trail.
Flora & Fauna
