Some trees have fallen on to the trail but most can be easily stepped over
Runner Notes
This trail is very narrow with the vegetation requiring you to duck down in parts and give way to others going the opposite direction. In the rain, some sections may require additional caution as the exposed soil won't provide much grip.
Description
In 1983, the Appalachian Trail was relocated to this course on Sky Meadows State Park land. In 2004, in cooperation with the Piedmont Environmental Council, the Appalachian Trail Conservancy, and the National Park Service, the Appalachian Trail was rerouted back to its original and current course, leaving Old Trail as part of Sky Meadow's trail system.
