Pine Ridge Trail begins at the large campsite 14 on Citico Creek. People may be camping in the trailhead so use your best judgement.

The beginning of this trail is the original access road to the upper parts of Citico Creek. The trail immediately leaves the old road bed where a sign indicating trail number and horse designations can be found. Pine Ridge Trail #99 and Fodderstack Horse Trail #95 are the only trails in the wilderness with this designation. Soon after you come to a clearing overlooking Citico Creek.

The climb begins shortly after. The first mile or so are pretty clear due to the proximity of the campground, but most campers seem to give up after this. There are some good views along the run up through the holes in the trees, but winter will provide more opportunity.

The trail ends at an intersection with Fodderstack Horse Trail #95 , on Fodderstack Mountain. A right here will continue to the crest and onward to Beech Gap, straight ahead goes towards Mill Branch and onward to Farr Gap.
