The Valley Link Trail can be used both as an out-and-back or as a connector trail to other areas of the park. If used as an out-and-back the total distance is 5.6 miles.

The starting point as drawn starts off at the Schumacher Trail trailhead. Where the Schumacher Trail ends, the Valley Link keeps on going. Take a break at the bridge over the Cuyahoga and explore the beach for a bit. The trail will connect with the paved towpath briefly (watch for bikes!) and will cross the scenic railroad. Take care when crossing the tracks and watch for trains.

The trail will have you cross Merriman Road where it links up with both the Parcours Trail and the Buckeye Trail. The Valley Link will end at the trailhead for the Dogwood Trail.
