This section of Grand View Trail is a singletrack that winds through stands of aspen, black timber, and meadows. Go to the end of FS601. The trail of this sections starts 200 yards west of FS601. The first section from FS601 to the top of Proctor canyon is a fast downhill. Just a couple miles into the run there is a pond on the east side of the trail.

There are three old metal beds set up back in the trees as part of an old sheep camp. The locals call this the three bears camp. A couple of miles after that there is a spring/bog that looks like its coming out of the bottom of the tree. There is another little creek from a natural spring that you'll cross using a log. About 5 miles into the run you'll cross over the Proctor Canyon FS road and continue north up a steep stretch.

The steepest up and down section of the trail is between Proctor and the Johnson Canyon. There is a little spot just before the Johnson Canyon Jct where you'll come on to an old pole fence and trough. Make sure you follow the trail to the west. Don't run over the fence to the north. That is the wrong way. There are FS signs at the Johnson Canyon Jct, so stay right on to the trail to Red Canyon.

You'll cross FS642 at Hillsdale Canyon. This section is the hottest and driest part with exposed red shale until you get to the Thunder Mountain Trail #33098 It is much flatter through here though, except for a few spots where you would have to walk a bike.

After the Thunder Mountain Trail #33098 it is a nice gradual downhill through the Ponderosas.
