Need to Know
There are no parking fees and there is a vault toilet in the middle of the park. The soil is well drained so that even after a good rain there is not any standing water on the trail.
Description
This is quiet little park very near
Zumwalt Trail. Most drive by without taking the time to explore this small treasure. The trail immediately plunges into a dark fir tree grove, but quickly emerges into an oak savanna along the shore of Fern Ridge Reservoir.
There are several access points to the water where it appears boaters come to picnic. One is surprised to find a vault toilet in the middle of the park. The trail continues though an old orchard and culminates with a nice view of the lake after passing through another dark fir tree grove.
There are two small loops that add variety to this short run through nature.
Flora & Fauna
The trail passes through alternating sections of fir woodlands and oak savanna. Grey squirrel, Steller's Jay and Black Tail deer are abundant.
