Description

From the highway, the Clayton Beach Trail gently descends through a routine Pacific Northwest Forest. At about the half-mile mark there is a scramble down a large sandstone slab. This adds a nice tough of interest, but may provide a challenge for others. At the base of the scramble the trail crosses an active rail line and continues a little ways to the left (east). Note there is a bit of trail-braiding going on here and the first trail on the other side of the tracks goes to a small inlet but not Clayton Beach.

Once you've found the right option, the trail quickly arrives at the sandy beach with worn rocks on one end and some old remnants of a dock or pier on the other end.
