Need to Know
There's a fee to enter the park during the warmer months.
Runner Notes
First part of the trail is used by horses and it can be cut up and muddy.
Description
Very large parking an recreational area at the trailhead that includes shelters, tables, fire pits and the shore of the Ohio River which is easily accessible. First half of the trail leads along the Ohio River with some nice rock features and cliff faces.
The trail then splits, the left hand trail leading into a much larger loop/trail and the right continuing uphill back towards the parking area. There's a relatively short incline to get up the hill. Once you top the hill the trail continues along the same rock face that you could see from below. It's a good safe distance from the edge with some outcrops that you can run out onto.
After another small incline you arrive at the Wyandotte Shelter, which is a much larger more enclosed shelter with fireplaces inside. Very large flat recreational area with bathrooms, tables and firepits. If you continue across this area there's a short run down some rock steps that will lead you back to the parking area where you started.
