Description

Built in spring 2020 at the start of the Coronavirus pandemic, the Quarantine trail is located near the Western Slope Parking Lot and is easily accessible from the Chimney Trail. The trail was built entirely with a machine and finished by the Shenandoah Valley Bicycle Coalition's volunteer work crews with hand tools.

With an average grade of 5%, the trail is one of the most gentle and accessible climbs of any trail the Coalition has built on the Western Slope to date.

The location of the trail on hillside ensured ample dirt for a wider trail tread and a relatively smooth surface (very smooth by Western Slope Standards). The trail connects to the Hanenkahm Trail at the Blooming Laurel intersection.

The lower leg of the Quarantine trail will be part of an upcoming "green loop" down low on the mountain while the upper section will one day connect over to Gravity Monkey and Special K.
