Dogs Leashed
Need to Know
Lots of parking and restrooms at Accotink parking lots.
Runner Notes
Trails easy to follow with lots of rocks, roots, fallen logs. Some sections are pretty well packed down from the mountain bikes.
Description
The woods between the Wakefield / Accotink
Loop Trail and the
Accotink Train Trail is a maze of mountain biking and hiking trails. This route takes turns that trend towards the lake, but there are many other trails in this area. It can be combined with the
Accotink Train Trail and the
Boy Scout Trail for a decent loop trail that stays almost entirely in the woods.
There are several access points onto the Accotink
Loop Trail and places where the MTB trails cross the
Accotink Train Trail. There are a couple of creeks to cross on rocks or logs.
Trail has several steep sections, fallen trees to jump over, lots of roots and rocks. It gets pretty muddy and slippery in places after rain or snow.
The main advantage is the low number of people compared to the Wakefield / Accotink
Loop Trail along with being in the woods away from houses and road noise.
