Description

The Lost Coast Headlands is an onshore unit of the California Coastal National Monument.

Starting at the paved parking and picnicking area, the trail winds through fields where there once stood a naval base. Interpretive signs discuss natural and human history of the area. It ends across the parking lot from Fleener Creek Trail, making it a good alternate parking area. It passes through livestock areas, so leave the gates the way you found them and be sure any dogs are well controlled.
