Overview
This hiking-only (or running) trail allows for a relaxing run without worrying about speeding mountain bikes, though you may catch a glance of those along the way.
Need to Know
1. Pocahontas State Park does have fee to enter the park, but cost is reasonable and helps maintain the park.
2. Bug spray is helpful in warmer months.
3. Ticks and snakes are known to live here, but stay on trail and you'll be just fine.
Runner Notes
A few roots and rocks exist on the trail, but overall a great trail.
Description
Starting and ending at the trailhead just across the bridge from the boat launch, this out-and-back trail is scenic the entire way. Adding the 0.8 mile Trooper Tribute Loop will also reward you with a nice run alongside a little stream.
The trail is well marked with blazes and marker signs at trail intersections. The intersections of neighboring trails offer opportunities to extend the mileage, though staying on this trail absolutely offers some of the best views in the park.
