Ranges from smooth pressed dirt to somewhat rocky trail. The whole route is managed by the park. Never anything difficult or dangerous.

The five mile (8km) trail begins at the parking lot and meanders around the lake for the first third. The next third takes the runner down a bumpy path through dense woods, but the trail is always clear and obvious. The run wraps up along a meadow near a small dam and finishes back at the parking lot. The whole trail is dotted with short, steep hills and sometimes mildly rocky terrain.

Typical northeastern broadleaf forest with a lake and plenty of water birds. Unlikely to see land animals but don't discount the possibility.
