Need to Know
This trail is restricted to foot traffic only.
Description
Starting from near the south end of Davis Creek trail (going clockwise) this trail climbs quite steeply up to an intermediate ridge before dropping back down to Dunlap Hollow at the road through the forest. The trail is blazed with blue circle reflective blazes. The climb is less intense following this trail counter clockwise (from Dunlop Hollow end to Davis Creek trail) because of a series of switchbacks. (Don't be the jerk that cuts across the end of the switchbacks - the 5 feet you save won't make up for the erosion from a straight downhill cut.)
On the climb from Davis Creek trail some rock formations are passed, but more are near the ridge and on the descent. There are some minor water crossings when conditions are wet.
At the top of the ridge on this trail, it follows a gravel access road down for a few hundred feet before returning to standard trail. Follow the blazes and signs along the road to stay on the correct trail. If this access road is followed upward it intersects and provides access to the
Middle Ridge Trail system along Middle Ridge Road.
