Description

The Folly Lick Branch Stream Valley Trail is a 1.8-mile easy, wide, mostly flat, and wheelchair accessible paved (asphalt) path in the town of Herndon (Fairfax Co., Virginia). The trail runs north-northeast from Stanton Park at Herndon Parkway and connects to the Sugarland Run Stream Valley Trail just east of Dranesville Road and north of Wiehle Avenue.

The trail is also accessible by paved connector trails from several other points along the stream, including at Young Avenue, Hiddenbrook Drive, Monroe Street, Millikens Bend Road, and Philmont Drive. If you go adventuring on the Folly Lick Branch Trail, look for the Folly Lick Rock Wall (located about halfway between Herndon Parkway and Dranesville Road). Paint a rock and place it on the wall.

Flora & Fauna

The stream valley has abundant bird life (including owls and woodpeckers), reptiles and amphibians are plentiful along the creek, and foxes can be commonly spotted in the stream valley.
