Need to Know
You can park your car at the endpoint of the course in the Bom Jesus Sanctuary (free parking), and take a easy run or warm-up of 1km to the starting point.
Runner Notes
road snickers can be used in the winter. But be aware of the weather: in rainy days, use more technical running shoes, with good grip.
Trekking poles will be useful.
Description
The beginning of the trail is at Rua R. Maria Olinda, 132 - Centro, Manhumirim - MG, at Padre Júlio Maria hospital, where you can park your car.
The route is practically all in dirt road, which passes along several rural coffee farms, and which originated in an old train line that connected Manhumirim to Alto Jequitibá. The first 9km are flat, followed by 4km of moderate to strong climb. At the end of the climb (13-14 km), there is a beautiful view of the Caparaó mountain range on sunny days.
The route passes through the Santa Rosa farm (which gives the route its name), with free access and a beautiful shaded area resulting from reforestation.
In the final stretch - descending - it is common to pass by residents of the region in cars or motorcycles.
The route ends at Getúlio Vargas Square, near the main church in the city, the Sanctuary of Senhor Bom Jesus de Manhumirim.
Flora & Fauna
Native birds: siriema, woodpecker, guan, parrots.
With some luck, you'll also see marmosets and capuchin monkeys.
Beware of the farm dogs.
The path is characterized by several coffee plantations as well as some pastures and eucalyptus.
