Held every year on the first Saturday in December.
Overview
Beautiful singletrack trail with views of Lake Norman. The 30K runners will pass an aid station twice and the 50K runners will pass an aid station four times along the course.
Plenty of food and drinks will be provided at the finish line. Whether this is your first trail race, or your looking to set a PR, you'll love this course!
Need to Know
Parking and bathrooms are located at the Welcome Center, which is near the Start/Finish line.
Description
30K Runners: You'll start in the field behind the visitors center, then proceed and enter
Laurel Loop Trail, cross over Wildlife Road to enter
Wildlife Loop,
Fallstown Loop, and
Fox Loop. Once these loops are complete, you'll cross back over Wildlife Road to complete the remaining section of Laurel Loop before returning back to the start/finish line at the main parking lot.
50K Runners: You'll start and race with the 30K runners along the same route, then you'll continue on Laurel Loop. Cross the parking lot entrance and continue on to
Hawk Loop,
Monbo Trail Loop, Norwood
Creek Loop and
Hicks Creek Loop before returning back to Laurel Loop to reach the finish line in the field behind the visitors center. All loops will be completed in clockwise direction, opposite way of bike traffic.
History & Background
Every year this course changes directions. Odd years, the course is clockwise direction and even years the course is counterclockwise. Always the opposite direction of bike traffic.
