This is not the best trail for runners.

This trail is less traversed than many in Sipsey Wilderness due to limited parking and difficult terrain. This is one of the most beautiful and rewarding trails in Sipsey if you have the nerve to embark upon it. From the parking area this trail descends to the headwaters of Ugly Creek which it follows Northward and Eastward passing Eagle Creek Falls, Deer Skull Falls, Hemlock Falls, and Fern Glade Falls until it converges with Wolfpen Branch.

From this point the trail follows Wolfpen Branch Soutwards towards its headwaters passing Wolfpen Falls before turning back towards the parking area. As you travel deeper into the woods here you'll encounter many ferns, mushrooms, snails, and moss. A few sections of this trail are difficult and potentially perilous to traverse, primarily the area where runners must pass Northwest of Eagle Creek Falls.

The path here is steep and has potential to be loose or slippery (as is the case for most of this trail) which could result in a 30 foot fall to the basin area of Eagle Creek Falls. It's not advisable to attempt this trail in heavy rain as this area may be prone to flooding. Runners will get their feet and shoes soaked on this trail. Although this trail is doable in 6-7 hours, but it's recommended to stay the night as there are many campsites and fire rings established.
