Need to Know

While this trail does pass a small, sandy beach, please remember that the lake is actually a reservoir and swimming is not allowed.

Description

This red-blazed trail is a nice, short lollipop at the heart of Mansfield Hollow State Park. It begins at the pavilion and main picnic area in the park. It descends slightly and then splits into a loop. The trail meanders a bit around some small ups and downs and crosses Bassetts Bridge Road. It continues to meander until it passes underneath a major powerline corridor.

It then descends down to the lake where it passes a small, sandy beach. This is the most scenic part of the run. Next, the trail doubles back, passing under the powerline corridor two more times before joining a dirt maintenance road. This road turns back toward the beginning. The trail goes back into the woods before crossing the road again and running across an open field. Finally, the trail returns to the woods and meets back with the other part of the loop.
