Description

This is a true last man standing event, and it will go on until there is only one runner left; no matter how long it takes! Each lap will be 4.167 miles long, and you'll have one hour to complete each lap. This race is not only about the last person standing, it is a great race for someone to test their limits, and attempt to go further than they have ever gone.

Unlike all other race formats, this race is not about speed. This race is about grit and the determination to finish another lap. When you have had enough, and you don't think you can finish another lap, you are welcome and encouraged to stick around and cheer on the other participants. Kick your feet up, have a beer, and watch the festivities.

The race will take place on April 23, 2022, at the beautiful Switchgrass mountain bike trail at Wilson State Park. The first 0.75 miles of the race will be on pavement to allow runners to spread out. The remainder of the course is singletrack mountain bike trail.

The start finish area will be an awesome environment – each runner can bring 2 crew members (highly recommended). There will plenty of space to set up a pop-up for you and your crew. If you are eliminated feel free to stick around, have a few beers (BYOB), and cheer other runners on!

You'll essentially be self-sustained. We will bring water and an electrolyte/fuel. Other than that you are on your own. Bring all your own food.

We will assign each individuals finishing mileage in UltraSignup. A DNF will NOT go on your record, instead it will be the total miles accumulated. We want anyone and everyone to come out and see how many miles they can run on this challenging and beautiful course! Come set a PR! Come run a few laps and join in and cheer on who's left!

Our #1 goal for this race is to create an amazing trail experience where people can come out and find a new personal best. And afterwards, hang out and cheer others on as they attempt to do the same. Whether you hope to get 4.2 miles or 100 miles we want you to come out and join the fun.

Our second goal for this race to eventually become a "ticket" event for the BIG BACKYARD WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS in Belt Buckle, TN.

We will abide by all rules exactly to their specifications and be in contact with them frequently in an effort to make this happen.

It IS still possible for ANY official Backyard race (like this one) to qualify participants for the World Championships in TN by exceptional performances earning "at-large" bids. All it takes is two great performances.

In the event that someone DOES earn a spot to the Backyard World Championships from our race – either from an awesome at-large performance OR a future silver ticket win, we will provide that individual with $500 in travel expenses for the Backyard World Championships!!! The money MUST be used for expenses related to the trip. We aren't going to hand you $500 and then you not go. We will pay for flights, gas, hotels, etc. up to $500. We will announce every time one of the 66 spots is filled, as well as who filled it, on our FB page.

No Refunds. No deferrals. No exceptions. Must be 21 to play.
