Features Geological Significance

Description

Most neighborhood trails in the Houston area are associated with waterways or utilities, but in this case a geologic fault provides the open space.

A US Geological Survey report from 1979, "Clodine Fault, Southwestern Houston Metropolitan Area, Texas" by E. R. Verbeek (USGS) and U. S. Clanton (NASA) describes the fault. The fault block is upthrown on the southeast side. Due to the geohazard, structures were not built on top of the fault and this provided the open space for the trail.

The report can be found at i2massociates.com/downloads…
