Need to Know
Watch out for bikes, this is a popular downhill route.
Runner Notes
Buena Vista's trail system is great for running & Camp Elevation is no different. Linking up with other trails in the area is easy & it's well-mapped.
Description
Camp Elevation connects the Town of BV to the CR304 (Midland) Trailhead, providing a great route to link up with numerous other trails & create some great loops or lollipop routes. It is a popular trail for mountain bikers, so be sure to keep stay alert.
Access Camp Elevation North from the south side of Bridge to Bridge trail. The trail immediately begins to climb, with some of the steeper section right at the beginning. Enjoy views of
Mt. Princeton & the Sawatch Range. Just past the 1.5 mile mark, you'll reach a road (really a driveway). Cross the road, slightly to the left, & continue on to Camp Elevation South. If you're looking to stay closer to town, head up the road to CR304.
Camp Elevation South isn't quite as steep as the northern side, but there are some fun little rocky sections that require some effort. After .2 miles, you'll pass the junction with
Crank 'n Hammer, which makes a great option if you're looking for a lollipop route (run all of Camp Elevation & turn right onto
Fistful of Dollars #6034 to connect back to
Crank 'n Hammer). Continue left to stay on Camp Elevation.
At 3.75 miles, you'll reach
Fistful of Dollars #6034 & the end of Camp Elevation trail. Turning left will take you to Midland Trailhead (CR304). Turn right will take you down to the Collegiate Peaks Overlook. If you're looking for loop before heading back towards Buena Vista, check out
Fistful of Dollars #6034 &
Django Trail #6033, or take
Crank 'n Hammer back towards town.
Flora & Fauna
Deer, lizards, mountain lions.
