Runner Notes
Trail is eroded, rocky and root covered, busted ankle waiting to happen if you try to run.
Description
The parking area is directly off 136 and easy to spot—three trails start from this area. The
Preserve Trail (marked in Yellow), the Crest Trail (marked orange) and the Champion Creek Trail (white).
This trail is well-marked and obviously follows an old road that has a lot of erosion this makes sections pretty treacherous especially the steeper portions near the bottom of the trail. There are a few side trails leading off the main trail. The run is well worth it as the creek is beautiful with a very nice cascade.
The run back up was much less eroded but you do cross over a few feeder streams. Through the trail there are sections that could use a little TLC and one of the groups I passed had older folks with them which I would not advise as the erosion, steepness and downed trees can be a problem.
