Runner Notes

Pretty steep for a run, but good obvious trail

Description

Starting on the Quiinchol Trail, you quickly rise above Lake Tinquilco following switchbacks up the mountain. Gaining 2,000 feet in the first two miles allows you to experience the change in vegetation. You pass a forest of South American Beech trees then another forest of Araucaria (Monkey Puzzle or Umbrella Tree). Occasionally you also get a glimpse of deep blue waters of the lake.

Once you reach the first alpine field turn left onto the San Sebastián Trail and then cruises along a blunt ridge and the forest begins to thin.

At around 3 miles you shoot up more precipitously again. After slugging up more than 1000' vertical feet in a mile the view become enormous. Multiple volcanos spot the horizon and the potential fire of the volcanos is deeply contrasted with the lushness of the forests and blue of the alpine lakes.
