From the town of Disentis, take the cable car up to Caischavedra. The trail starts directly uphill from the tram station exit. Head past the signpost and up the steep, dirt service road. Soon, the singletrack trail heads off to the right, past some rust-colored solar panels. Contour across the hillside crossing the fields of wildflowers and streams of the Alp Magriel.

Surmount a short, steeper section to gain a ridge, then continue the gentle ascent towards the lake. Before long, you crest a small rise and petite Lag Serien lies at your feet. This shallow, small depression is filled with cold water, even in summer. Lake Serien is a fine place for a picnic or a quick dip. The rock faces of Piz Ault and Piz Acletta loom above.

After a nice rest, return the way you came, enjoying the views across the wide valley of the Medelser glacier and surrounding peaks.
