Description
Sage Pass Trail is found at the 1.8 mile mark along
Twin Lakes Trail. To run Sage Pass Trail, from the Red Rock Canyon parking area take
Snowshoe Trail for 5.4 miles to where it ends at the start of
Twin Lakes Trail. Then run
Twin Lakes Trail to a trail junction at the 1.8 mile mark. Go right at this trail junction onto Sage Pass Trail that takes one to Sage Pass and high ridges of the Great Divide.
Sage Pass Trail begins in beautiful dense fir forest. The trail climbs a steep forested hillside on gentle switchbacks for its entire length. As altitude is gained the trees shorten and thin. Views of nearby rock walls that top out with ridges on the Great Divide, emerge.
After a short 0.9 miles, Sage Pass is reached. Sage Pass is a saddle on the Great Divide. A trail junction at Sage Pass provides great running opportunites in both directions on the ridge tops of the Great Divide.
