Start in Trail Creek at the summit of Trail Creek Road and the county line. Run up the trail as you become very good friends with the creek and never leave her side. Eventually, the creek fades to a trickle and you head for the summit in a saddle just below Phi Kappa Mountain. At this point, you have climbed 3.75 miles and it is all downhill from here as you drop into the Right Fork of Kane Creek. Just a mile from the end of the trail and the junction with Kane Lake Trail #4066, you have the option to pretend you are a mountain goat and climb straight up the side of Phi Kappa Mountain on Phi Kappa Trail #4054. Once down to the end of the trail you can pop out to Kane Creek Parking area just a tenth of a mile downstream.
