Heil Valley Trailhead closes every day at noon due to flood risk. Corral Trailhead remains open. Pedestrian and equestrian only.

Need to Know

No fees, just don't be parked at Heil Trailhead after noon.

Runner Notes

Not too many rocks, but still watch your feet!

Description

Start at either the northern or southern end, both trailheads have bathrooms and maps. Starting in the north, switchback up the ridge east of the main trailhead and road. From there, continue south, and move along with excellent views of local wildlife (often deer) and the trees all around.

Switchbacks on the south end will bring you back down to the valley floor. The final tenth of a mile will have you crossing the only real wet section--a creek crossing that is often dry.

Flora & Fauna

Deer, mountain lions, prairie dogs, various birds.
