Features

There is a sign, near the start of the route saying NO dogs, but I have seen many on this trail. there are sheep about so I would suggest dogs on a Leash. not wheelchair friendly.
Need to Know
Skipton is the ideal spot for food or picking up snacks, car parks here can be a little pricey and the traffic wardens are keen and check on a regular basis. In Embsay the car park is free but tends to fill quickly. there are no toilets in the car park ro along the route, but you could always ask at the sailing club.
Runner Notes
Quite uneven under foot, tracks are worn and not really maintained. In a clockwise direction the route is uphill until you reach Embsay crag.
Description
A nice afternoon or morning run, close to the town of Skipton (cafes and places of interest).
Parking in the main car park is limited, but there are places to park curb side and a further carpark near the sailing club.
From the main carpark the route sets off through the village and follows the road past the sailing club. Pick up the main trail just as you pass the end of the reservoir. The footpaths are clear and worn. The top of the crag with a rocky outcrop offers nice views across the valley and further afield. Caution required with young children as there are steep areas and long drops from the crag.
On the way back down keep Embsay on your right (clockwise walk) follow the path down toward the wall and it comes to a gate that is secured by a chain and clasp into a field continue down the field and follow the path to the buildings, follow the driveway/ road to the main road and turn right. Follow the road as it bares around to the left, to pass a St Marys church then as you pass the next house there is a footpath across the fields back to the car park.
