Hours: 6:30a.m. - Dusk
Closing Time is about 30 minutes after sunset. The Security Officer is instructed to lock the gate one hour after sunset. If you are in the parking lot within a few minutes of darkness, you won't be locked in.
Find out when CRP is closed due to rain or other situations by visiting their Facebook page or calling 972-709-7784.
If a heat index of 110 is forecast, NOAA would release an Excessive Heat Warning, and we will close the preserve.

Overview

A hilly loop that goes around through nearly every trail in the preserve, going clockwise and back down to the parking lot, and then making a short counter-clockwise loop on the other end of the parking lot on the bluebonnet trail.

Description

A fun, challenging trail with moderate elevation changes throughout. There are some good uphill portions and beautiful views across the valley at the overlook. The end of the loop goes around the wildflower trail and has some mild elevation changes and great views leading to an overlook.

Left onto Bluestem Trail, clockwise
Left to return Cattail Pond Trail
Continue on Cattail Pond Trail
Left to Possumhaw Trail
Left to return to Cattail Pond Trail
Continue on Cattail Pond Trail
Left to Cedar Brake Trail
Left to return to Cattail Pond Trail
Left to Fossil Valley Trail
Continue on Fossil Valley Trail
Continue straight at end of Fossil Valley Trail to return to Cattail Pond Trail
Left to Red Oak Trail - Connecting Cattail Pond Trail to Escarpment Trail
Right to Escarpment Trail , uphill
Continue straight to parking lot
Cut across to Backstage Pass Trail - Connecting Park in the Woods building to Cedar Ridge Preserve parking
Continue on trail to Park in the Woods Trail - Prairie Trail to Park in the Woods building connector
Right to Prairie Trail - Passes by a black-capped vireo habitat area, Bluebonnet, and Mulberry Trailheads
Continue straight (slight downhill) to Mulberry Trail
Continue straight (downhill) to Bluebonnet Trail
End at parking lot
