Description
From the Main Plaza, head west across some of the old palace ruins and then enter the forest. The trail zigzags down on the west side of
Choquequirao. After about 300 yards, you reach the top of the Llama Terraces. From here, the trail zigzags down very steeply on the left side of the terraces.
After another 400 yards, you reach a small platform on the side of one of the terraces with spectacular views of the Rio Apurimac valley. Follow the stairs down a few levels to a sign saying "Mirador". Cross the terrace here and head back into the forest.
The trail continues for a bit and then ends at a viewing platform with excellence views of the terraces. Feel free to take the terrace stairs on the way up, but they are steep and some steps are very narrow.
