Description

The North Fork Trail starts at the Water Canyon Campground group site. It follows the canyon bottom before climbing up past an abandoned loggers cabin along a mine road to North Baldy Peak. The mine road is impossible to vehicles due to erosion and rock fall, but makes for a relatively easily navigable hike up to the ridgeline with excellent views. The lower section of the trail follows the Water Canyon watershed with running water most of the season, while the upper switchbacks are steep and rocky scree with wide views of the valley below. The view from the ridgeline near north baldy is fantastic and well worth the climb.
