Description
Starting and ending at the parking lot gets you just under 2 miles, with a couple of steep sections at either end of the loop. Running the loop counterclockwise will quickly get you to the top of Upper Piney Falls, and then there's a steep descent with a cable anchored to some trees to help you down.
The trail opens up to a beautiful view of the falls (and a shallow swimming area) and a really neat feature of the trail that takes you under the falls, and around some large rock walls on your left. After about 0.4 miles, a steep and short out and back will get you to Lower Piney Falls, where you'll only have access to the top of the falls.
From there, the trail begins to climb back up towards the beginning of the loop, and from the beginning of the loop you have another 0.5 miles back to the trailhead.
