Need to Know

There is no water (creeks or springs). Take plenty with you.

Runner Notes

Keep an eye out for bear and elk, especially near Bear Wallow. Once you reach the quad trail you'll see lots of animal tracks.

Description

The first 3.3 miles are singletrack and quite steep. The ridge views are excellent with some granite cliffs begging to be climbed. Mile 3.3 to mile 7 is a wider trail for quads. It follows a ridgeline and is easier. However, the views are obscured by trees and there are some logged areas. The entire trail is remote enough you'll likely not see anybody else on the trail.

If you get caught in a thunderstorm there are lots of Yellow Pines to shelter under. They have a super power as their long needles catch all rain and the ground is usually dry under them.

Flora & Fauna

Yellow pines and Aspen stands.
