Overview

Taking this loop will actually help you avoid the crowds of the way easier paved trail. You'll be able to cross a bridge and see where the falls start. You'll then be able to see the falls from another parking lot that's off the North Rim Trail.

Need to Know

The park has a fee to enter

Description

Start off by taking the "stairs" just to the left of the paved Gorge Trail. This starts the South Rim. Follow the signs to stay on the trail. You'll see many views of the canyon along the way. Once you get to the "end" you'll see the signs for the North Rim Trail. This trail is also well marked. Along this route you'll get some beautiful views of Taughannock Falls. You'll then come back to the end and have to use the side run along the road to get back to your car.

While they're much smaller than Taughannock, the lower falls near the parking area are still beautiful in their own right.

The trail can get just a little icy in the winter!
